
Cross Country Completes Conference Championship Meet in Cary

CARY, N.C. – Pitt completed the 2024 ACC Cross Country Championships at WakeMed Soccer Park Friday afternoon, with the men finishing in 13th place and the women collecting 16th place.
MEN'S 8K RECAP
Quintin Gatons, Luke Miller, Luke Simpson ran sub 24 minutes for the first time in their careers and finished consecutively in 79th, 80th and 81st place. Freshman Thomas McMahon was close behind with a top 85 finish in 24:02.8. Peyton Geehrer was the next Panther to cross the line, in 95th place with a time of 24:09.5. Finn Walsh and Ethan Fingerhut rounded out the top seven finishers for the team with their 103rd and 109th place marks.
In the highly competitive race, eight of the ten Pitt men racing recorded new personal bests. The Panthers had a team score of 373 points.
WOMEN'S 6K RECAP
Senior Winnie Incorvaia had a strong performance with a personal best time of 20:29.5 as she was the top finisher for the Panthers with her 42nd place performance at the conference meet. Sadie Carey-Tharp and Olivia Bufalini finished inside the top 100 with their 79th and 91st place outings. Carey-Tharp posted a time of 20:58.4 and Bufalini stopped the clock in 21:10.5. Camy Kiser, Ellen Baker, Sarah Hurst and Ella Cook concluded the scoring for Pitt. The Panthers totaled 410 points.
NEXT UP
The Panthers continue post season action at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Friday, November 15. Penn State will host this year's meet at the Blue and White Courses. The women's 6k is set for 12 p.m. and the men's 10k is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
