Panthers Open Greenbrier Tip-Off Event At Home Against VMI

THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt (4-0) opens the Greenbrier Tip-Off with a home game against VMI (4-1) Monday, Nov. 18. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from the Petersen Events Center with Jason Earle and Nick Rivers calling the action on ACC Network Extra.
- The Panthers travel to the Greenbrier Resort for the final two games of the event later this week. Pitt faces LSU (Nov. 22) and either Wisconsin or UCF (Nov. 24) in White Sulphur Springs, W.V.
- Pitt's starting backcourt of Ishmael Leggett (18.5 ppg.), Damian Dunn (16.3 ppg.), and Jaland Lowe (14.3 ppg.) combines to average 49.1 points per game on 51.1 percent (67-of-131) shooting from the field. The trio has 10 double-figure scoring games and four games with 20 or more points scored on the season.
- Monday's contest will be Pitt's 400th game all-time at the Petersen Events Center.
- The Panthers have topped the 80-point mark in all four games this season and in seven of their past eight games at the Petersen Events Center. Pitt has won 19 consecutive games and is 42-2 under Jeff Capel when scoring 80 or more points.
- Pitt is averaging 87.0 points per game, while shooting 50.4 percent (122-of-242) from the field. The Panthers rank 23rd nationally (third in the ACC) in KenPom adjusted offensive efficiency at 115.3 points per 100 possessions.
- Pitt has won 10 consecutive games at the Petersen Events Center for its longest home win streak since a 14-game stretch from Feb. 27, 2013 through Jan. 21, 2014.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Ishmael Leggett has scored 15 or more points in each of the first four games of the season and leads the Panthers in scoring (18.5 ppg.), while ranking second in rebounds (6.8 rpg.), and field goal percentage (.644).
- Jaland Lowe is filling the stat sheet this season averaging 14.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. He is 19-of-20 (.950) from the foul line and has topped the 20-point mark twice on the season.
- Cameron Corhen has scored in double figures in all four games and is averaging 12.8 points and 6.5 rebounds, while shooting a team-high 64.7 percent (22-of-34) from the field. He has scored 12 or more points and grabbed at least five rebounds in all four games.
- Damian Dunn is averaging 16.3 points and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 55.3 percent (21-of-38) from the field for the Panthers. He has scored in double figures in all four games with a season-best 23 points in Friday's win over West Virginia.
- Zack Austin has been an impact player off the Pitt bench through the first four games averaging 5.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks in 24.2 minutes per game. He leads the ACC with 3.3 blocks per game and has recorded 12 of his 13 blocks over the past three games. He is coming off a 10-point, 5-rebound, 4-block effort in the win over Gardner-Webb and matched his Pitt high with five blocked shots to go along with eight rebounds against Murray State.
- Brandin Cummings has provided a spark off the Pitt bench and is averaging 5.8 points and 1.8 assists in 14.6 minutes per game. A three-time all-state selection and younger brother of 2023 Pitt standout Nelly Cummings, Cummings posted 2,222 points with 271 three-pointers during his high school career at Lincoln Park in Midland, Pa.
- The Panthers return four of their top six scorers from a year ago with the backcourt tandem of Ishmael Leggett and Jaland Lowe leading the way. Leggett and Lowe are off to a strong start to the 2024-25 season combining to average 32.8 points, 11.6 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 3.8 steals per game.
- Pitt has five players 6-10 or taller on the roster for the first time in program history. The Panthers starting frontcourt Cameron Corhen (6-10) and Guillermo Diaz Graham (7-0) combines to average 22.1 points and 14.8 rebounds per game.
- Pitt has outscored the opposition, 72-34, in points off turnovers through the first four games. The Panthers are committing 9.3 turnovers per game after finishing last season among the ACC leaders in that category as well.
- Pitt is averaging 37.5 points in the paint to go along with 17.3 points per game from the foul line through four games. The Panthers have topped a combined 50 points in the paint and at the foul line in all four games.
- The Panthers are shooting 60.8 percent (87-of-143) on its two-point field goal attempts this season with Ishmael Leggett (23-of-32) and Cameron Corhen (21-of-31) combining to go 44-of-63 (.698) from inside the three-point arc.
- Pitt ranks 20th in KenPom with a +20.52 adusted efficiency margin.
- The Panthers have grabbed 40 or more rebounds in three of its four games, including a season-high 45 rebounds in Friday's win over West Virginia.
- Following Monday's game with VMI, Pitt will play five consecutive games against power conference teams. All five games will be away from home with two games at the Greenbrier Tip-Off followed by road contests at Ohio State (Nov. 29), Mississippi State (Dec. 4), and Virginia Tech (Dec. 7).
PANTHER SPOTLIGHT
- Guillermo Diaz Graham is averaging 9.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in 25.1 minutes per game. He has scored in double figures in three of the four games, while also grabbing seven or more rebounds three times this season
- Diaz Graham recorded his second career double-double in Friday's win over West Virginia. He had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while knocking down a pair of three-point field goals and finishing 4-of-5 from the field.
