
No. 16 Pitt Wins Seven Bouts in 28-10 Victory Over Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 16 Panthers won seven bouts, including five bonus-points wins, to claim a 28-10 road victory over Bucknell at Davis Gym, Friday night. Pitt has won five straight matches to improve to 8-2 in dual meets this season.
No. 18 Nick Babin opened the dual with a 16-0 technical fall victory to give the Panthers the early lead. Babin controlled the match from the start and took a 3-0 lead after the first period. He used another takedown early in the second period and got two more points from an escape and a stalling call for an 8-0 lead. Babin scored eight more points before the second period ended with back-to-back near falls to secure the 16-0 victory as time ran out in the second period.
The Panthers and Bison exchanged bonus points wins as Bucknell won the 133-pound match by a major decision. The Bison took the momentum and won the 144-pound match to take a 7-5 lead over the Panthers.
Pitt went on to win the next three consecutive matches to jump to a 17-7 lead halfway through the dual.
No. 22 Finn Solomon regained the lead for Pitt with a 19-3 technical fall win at 149. Solomon attacked early and took a 9-3 lead after the first three minutes. He opened the second with a reversal to a near fall for a 14-3 advantage. He used another takedown 33 seconds into the third period to secure the technical fall win.
No. 25 Dylan Evans won a close 157-pound match, 1-0, as Jared Keslar earned more bonus points with a 13-5 major decision victory over No. 20 Noah Mulvaney at 165. Keslar took the early lead with a takedown in the first period and extended the lead 7-2 in the second period. He used two takedowns in third to hold on for the major decision victory.
Bucknell won one last bout with Myles Takats winning the 174-pound match over No. 17 Luca Augustine in a 4-1 sudden victory. The Panthers closed out the match by winning the last three matches with No. 16 Reece Heller (184) and No. 14 Dayton Pitzer picking up bonus points wins.
After a competitive start to the 184-pound match, Heller scored first with a late takedown. He grabbed a 7-0 lead after the first two periods and secured another takedown to go up 10-1 with a minute left in the third period. He was awarded another point for riding time to win 11-1.
No. 11 Mac Stout extended his winning streak to 12 consecutive matches with a 4-2 victory at 197. Stout and Dillon Bechtold were tied 1-1 entering the third period as Stout got a takedown with under a minute remaining in the match to secure the win.
In the final match of the night, No. 14 Dayton Pitzer took the lead with a takedown with a minute left in the first period. Pitzer worked for the near fall but was not able to secure anymore points as time ran out in the period. He recorded another takedown in the second and had an escape early in the third to take a 7-0 lead. Pitzer had one final takedown in the third period and was awarded a point for riding time to win 11-1 and ultimately secure the win for the panthers.

The Panthers return to ACC action next Friday, Jan. 24, with a road test at No. 6 NC State (7 p.m. – ACCNX).
