PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Women's Soccer homestand continues Sunday, Aug. 31 as the Panthers (4-1-0) welcome Santa Clara (1-3-0) to Ambrose Urbanic Field for a noon start. Sunday's contest is the second match of a six-game stretch of home games for the Panthers.
First-year head coach Ben Waldrum and the Panthers are looking to rebound from a 1-0 loss to Cal State Fullerton Thursday. Pitt held a decisive, 18-8, shot advantage and generated nine corners but were unable to crack the Titan defense.
THE OPENING KICK
- Pitt has had five different goal scorers with Katie Ellermeyer (4), Lola Abraham (2), Magaret Wilde, Magali Gagne, and Sofia Doheny each finding the back of the net.
- Ellermeyer scored twice in last Sunday's win at Dayton and is tied for third in the ACC in goals (4) and tied for second in game-winning goals (2).
- Sophomore Lola Abraham has looked strong in her return to the lineup after missing the second half of last season with a knee injury. She has scored two goals, while playing 70 or more minutes in all five matches.
- Junior captain Olivia Lee has played the full 90 minutes in all five games this season and in 12 of the Panthers' past 15 matches dating back to last season.
- Pitt has used a different starting lineup in each of its five matches this season. Lucia Wells, Olivia Lee, Sophie Rourke, Sage Stelzer, Lola Abraham, and Mariama Dabo have each started all five matches for the Panthers.
- The Panthers have started three freshmen(Katie Ellermeyer, Adi Bianchin, and Ellie Rowlands) in each of the past two matches. Freshman Hannah Minogue started the first three matches of the season and has played 50+ minutes in all five contests.
- Bianchin recorded an assist in two of her four games played and shares the team lead in assists with veteran forward Margaret Wilde.
- Senior goalie Ellie Breech has recorded two clean sheets and has a .923 save percentage this season. The program's career leader in goalie wins (26), Breech has stopped 12 shots and allowed just one goal in 2025.
THE OPPOSITION
- Santa Clara is 1-3 on the season after dropping three consecutive matches to nationally ranked opponents (No. 7 Stanford, No. 18 Texas Tech, and No. 9 Penn State). The Broncos are a perennial West Coast power winning at least 10 matches in 37 of the past 38 completed seasons. Adee Goulden leads the team in goals (2), while Leah O'Brien and Mailin Orozco each have a pair of assists on the season.
