Group of Panthers Compete in YSU Last Chance Invitational

Youngstown, Ohio – The YSU Last Chance Invitational was a success for the Panthers, placing three on the podium in their respective events in the one-day competition that featured select student-athletes.
SECOND PLACE
- Emeka Ugwu | Shot Put | 18.07m
- Maddie Lewis | Long Jump | 5.71m
THIRD PLACE
- Niya Crawford | Shot Put | 15.04m
RECAP
- Freshman Josiah Montgomery finished fourth in the shot put with a 17.70m personal best. Montgomery stays put at number four all-time at Pitt with his result.
- Madisyn Hawkins tossed a personal best 18.20-meters in the women's weight throw for fourth place at the meet. She remains eighth on the program's top 10 list with that mark.
- Alexa Brown found success in the shot put, finishing fifth with a day's mark of 13.84-meters.
- Mark Haynesworth Jr. threw 15.36-meters for 15th place in the weight throw.
- Jacob Burgess delivered a seventh-place performance in the men's long jump, leaping 6.74-meters.
- In the 60-meter hurdles prelims, Taylor Forbes just missed qualifying for the final, finishing 11th in 9.33. Hailey Kravetz posted a time of 9.63.
- Gabrielle Layne tied for 19th in the 400-meter race with a time of 59.84.
UP NEXT
- ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship qualifiers will compete in the three-day meet in Boston from Feb. 26-28.
