Panthers Prep For Double Midweek

PITTSBURGH – Pitt (15-6, 3-3 ACC) prepares for a double midweek where they will travel to Kent State (18-4, 8-1 MAC) on Tuesday before hosting Youngstown State (3-17, 1-2 Horizon League) on Wednesday.
The Panthers took Saturday's game over No. 3 Georgia Tech, 14-9, this past weekend. It was their first win over a top five team since 2023.
Top of the Order
• OF Lorenzo Carrier is one of the best hitters in the country through the first six weeks of the season. He leads the country and SLG (1.029), ranks 2nd the country in OBP (.644) and 3rd in both RBI (44) and AVG (.464).
• Pitt's offense is off to a scorching start. They rank 3rd in the country in OBP (.467), third in HR per game (2.2) and fourth in scoring (10.4) and SLG (.586).
• The Panther offense has slugged 38 home runs in their last 15 games. They have driven in 75 runs via the long ball, hitting four grand slams and ten three-run home runs.
• Pitt has worked 170 walks this season, ranking them second in the entire country. Lorenzo Carrier has walked 29 times, leading the team and ranking third in the ACC.
• Pitt leadoff man AJ Nessler is hitting .369 with 50 total bases, 31 hits, 35 run scored, 18 RBIs and four home runs so far this season. He's recorded multiple hits in 12 games this year.
• Lorenzo Carrier won nearly every national weekly award for his performance at the plate two weeks ago. Carrier was named the Golden Spikes National Player of the Week, Dick Howser Trophy National Co-Hitter of the Week, Perfect Game National Player of the Week, ACC Player of the Week and was named to Baseball America's National Team of the Week.
