Fourteen Student-Athletes to Participate in Eight-Week Program
PITTSBURGH — Fourteen student-athletes from the University of Pittsburgh will complete an eight-week summer internship within the Department of Athletics as part of the 2026 Pitt Script for Life Internship Program.
The Pitt Script for Life Internship Program is intended for student-athletes interested in pursuing a career in, or learning more about working in, college athletics and beyond. Now in its eighth year, the program continues to give participants a comprehensive look at how student-athletes and programs are supported across the Department of Athletics.
Five current Pitt employees are former interns through the program and a total of nine former interns have worked in full-time roles at Pitt since the inception of Pitt Script for Life.
The 2026 program runs from June 15 through Aug. 7 and introduces a redesigned "Department + Paired Department" model. Functional areas are paired with a matching department and share two interns across the summer, with each intern rotating between the two offices in four-week blocks. The structure is designed to broaden exposure to Pitt Athletics operations and strengthen cross-department understanding.
A central feature of the redesigned program is a collaborative capstone project. Each pair of interns will work together throughout the eight weeks on a single project spanning both of their host departments, with the goal of producing tangible deliverables — and, in many cases, innovative ideas the host departments can carry forward. Final presentations will be delivered at an end-of-program showcase.
In addition to their on-the-job work, Pitt Script for Life interns receive professional development coaching and education by Life Skills staff members and University partners. The program includes weekly professional development workshops as well as networking events and site visits to local prominent organizations, giving interns multi-dimensional exposure to various industries. The cohort also gathers for a kickoff orientation, a mid-internship luncheon and the end-of-program project showcase.
The 2026 cohort was selected through a competitive interview process and placed across functional areas including business office, ticket office, camps, facilities management, life skills, student-athlete events, strength and conditioning, communications, major gifts, sport administration, human resources, and an external rotational track.
