LOS ANGELES – The Pitt women's soccer team scored a 2-1 win in its first road game of the season at Loyola Marymount. Celine Ottah netted her first goal as a Panther in the first half, and Lola Abraham added to the lead in the second half, converting a penalty kick.
Pitt took control early in the match, drawing a corner kick in the opening three minutes and recording its first shot in the sixth minute.
In the 13th minute, LMU cleared a Pitt corner kick out of the box, but the ball fell to Katie Ellermeyer just outside. Ellermeyer played the ball back in, finding Adi Bianchin. Bianchin passed the ball to Ottah, who powered a shot past the LMU keeper and into the back of the net for the opening goal of the game.
The Panthers continued to dominate the first 45 minutes of action, taking 10 shots and allowing none.
The second half was a physical contest as two Panthers were booked with yellow cards. However, Pitt continued to control possession and build into the final third.
Freshman Desiree Reed was close to adding to the Pitt lead in the 54th minute but sent a shot just over the crossbar.
The Panthers extended the lead to 2-0 in the 73rd minute on a penalty kick. Sage Stelzer came darting into the box and was taken to the ground by an LMU defender, earning Pitt a penalty kick. Abraham stepped up to the dot and buried her second goal of the season.
In the waning minutes of the second half, Pitt was called for multiple fouls, allowing the Lions to build into the Pitt defensive third. The Lions got on the score board in the 89th minute, capitalizing on a free kick just outside the Pitt 18-yard box.
The Panthers closed out the 2-1 win to open the road trip.
Pitt led in total shots 16-8 and has outshot each of its first three opponents to open the 2026 season.
Weslee Istone-Haupt, Blakeley Soderman, and Eden Jones all made their collegiate debuts in the win. Sofia Doheny entered off the bench for the Panthers, making her first appearance in 2026 after missing the first two games with injury.
