Bianchin's Hat Trick Lifts Pitt to 3-0 Victory over Dayton on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's soccer team scored a shutout victory over the Flyers on Senior Sunday at Ambrose Urbanic Field, 3-0. Adi Bianchin netted her first career hat-trick in the win and her fifth goal over the last two games.
Bianchin put up an efficient performance, scoring on three of her six shots on the day. The sophomore now leads the Panthers in goals (5) and points (12) on the season.
The Panthers honored their graduating seniors prior to kickoff of Sunday's match. Mya Archibald, Mariama Dabo, Sofia Doheny, Claire Jones, Sofia Iori, Olivia Lee, Sage Stelzer, and Lucia Wells were all celebrated for their contributions to the program.
The Panthers (6-1-1) and the Flyers (2-4) went back and forth in the early going, but Pitt broke through in the 26th minute of action. From the corner, Mya Archibald cut in and found Bianchin at the top of the 6-yard box. With one-touch, Bianchin sent the ball past the Dayton keeper to the far post, giving Pitt a 1-0 advantage that it would take into the break.
Just five minutes into the second half, Bianchin struck again. After a turnover in the midfield from the Flyers, Pitt sent a long ball toward the Dayton 18-yard box. Stelzer and the Dayton keeper both went for the ball, but Stelzer came away from the scrum with the ball, leaving the net open. Stelzer sent the ball across the net and Bianchin poked it in for her second of the afternoon.
With a solid 2-0 lead in the second half, Pitt maintain control of possession during the match. A couple of chances from Dayton in the final third were thwarted off by Elli Johnson and the Pitt defense.
In the final five minutes of action, Bianchin completed her hat trick. Jones played a corner short to Desiree Reed. Reed played the ball back to Jones, who found Bianchin at the near post. Bianchin again finished the ball tapping the ball to the back of the net.
The last time a Panther scored a hat-trick was in 2024 when Magali Gagne scored three times against Mercyhurst.
The Panthers led in shots 22-6 and allowed just one on goal from the Flyers.
