2008-09: For the second consecutive year, Beth Newell was voted the Panther Triad award winner by her teammates...won her heat of the 100 back in the preliminaries at the Big East Championships...holds the fourth-fastest team time in the 200 back.

2007-08: Beth Newell was awarded the Panther Triad award at the annual team banquet...named Panther Performer of the Week when she set career bests in the 100 and 200 backstroke events against Villanova, Maryland and Penn State.

2006-07: Newell recorded a 2.27.25 finish in the 200 fly against Virginia Tech...finished at the 5.41.27 mark in the 500 free against rival West Virginia...anchored the 200 free relay with a 27.10 split against the Irish...swam a 57.61 as the second leg of the 400 free relay team in the Virginia meet.

HIGH SCHOOL: Newell was a member of Team Pittsburgh Aquatics during her summer months...also swam for Sebco Swim team....set a then-personal best in the 100 free at 59.87 in her senior year.

PERSONAL: Born on May 12, 1988...daughter of Rick and Carol Newell...has two brothers...majoring in business marketing.
