Jeff Berghoff is in his sixth season as an assistant coach for the Panthers. He served his first three years as an assistant for the women[apos]s team before working with both squads for the last two years.
He has helped establish the women[apos]s team into a competitive force in the Big East Conference and also helped guide the men[apos]s team to two league titles in 2003 and 2004.
Berghoff is familiar with the Pittsburgh swimming program as he has been involved with Team Pittsburgh Aquatics since 1997. In addition, he was the head coach at nearby Oakland Catholic High School for four years, where he coached eight different NISCA High School All-Americans and the 1999 Pennsylvania state championship team.
A native of Murrysville, Pa., Berghoff is in his fourth year as the Head Coach of Team Pittsburgh Aquatics after having served as the Head Age Group Coach for four years. In his first season as senior coach, he had three senior national qualifiers on the team. He has also coached several Allegheny Mountain Swimming record holders.
Berghoff earned his bachelor[apos]s degree in economics from Carnegie Mellon University in 1994. He and his wife Michelle have three sons, Ryan (9), Justin (4) and Jacob (1).
