Four Panthers Record Double-Figure Scoring
PITTSBURGH – Four starters reached double-figure scoring for Pitt women's basketball (10-14, 2-9 ACC) in a 66-59 loss to No. 10/11 Florida State (19-4, 7-3 ACC) Sunday in front of a crowd of 1,765 at Petersen Events Center.
Sophomore guard Alayna Gribble paced the Panthers with 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field, 3-of-5 from long range and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Junior Kauai Bradley and redshirt junior Yacine Diop had 12 points apiece, while Diop had a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore point guard Jasmine Whitney had 11 points and dished out a game-high five assists.
The game featured 14 lead changes and six ties. The Panthers held the lead at the end of the first, second and third quarters, but were unable to hold on in the fourth as the Seminoles used a 12-3 run from 4:27 to 00:29 to acquire their first double-figure margin of the game (62-52). Freshman Kyla Nelson heaved up a long three with two seconds remaining to make the final score 66-59.
Florida State's AJ Alix was one point off a career high with 25. She started the game at 5-of-5 from long range, making her first four in the first four minutes of the first quarter. She ended the game 8-of-13 from the field, 7-of-9 from 3-point land and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe.
The Panthers led by as many as five (30-25) with 8:43 left in the third period, following a layup by junior center Kalista Walters. In total, Pitt held the lead for 19:47 of the contest but came up short in the final period.

- The last time the Panthers had four or more players reach double figures in the scoring column was Dec. 9, 2017, in a 74-55 win over UNCW.
- Pitt held the Seminoles – who average 83.7 points per game – to their second-fewest points scored all season, behind a 65-56 loss at NC State Thursday, Feb. 2.
- The Panthers made 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) from 3-point range, marking their fourth game of the season having made 10 or more 3-pointers.
