The Opening Tip
- Pitt (8-16, 0-11) concludes a three-game road stretch at No. 16 Clemson (19-4, 8-3) Thursday, Feb. 8. The game will be broadcast on the Regional Sports Network (AT&T SportsNet in Pittsburgh) and is scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m.
- The Panthers have used 15 different starting lineups this season, tied for the second most in the NCAA. Freshmen have combined to make 74 starts on the year.
- Pitt has dropped 11 consecutive games, the longest streak in program history.

- Pitt led 32-31 with 3:19 to in the opening half of play before No. 19 North Carolina took control en route to a 96-65 win Saturday evening.
- Marcus Carr scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 from three-point range. He added four rebounds and five assists in the contest.
- Jared Wilson-Frame knocked down four three-point field goals and finished with 15 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Terrell Brown scored a season-best 14 points and had three blocked shots, while Parker Stewart had a pair of three-point field goals and a season-high 10 rebounds.
- The Panthers went 8-of-14 (.571) from three-point range in the opening half of play. Pitt finished with 10 three-point field goals for its seventh game with 10 or more threes.
- Pitt has started three or more freshmen in a game 16 times, including each of the past 14 contests. Freshmen have combined to make 74 starts as Marcus Carr (21), Khameron Davis (16), Parker Stewart (13), Shamiel Stevenson (11), Terrell Brown (11) and Peace Ilegomah (2) have each made starts this season.
- Pitt has dropped 15 consecutive ACC regular season contests. The Panthers last regular season conference win was an 80-66 decision over No. 17 Florida State Feb. 18, 2017.
- The Panthers have lost nine consecutive ACC road contests. Pitt's last conference road win was an 83-72 decision at Boston College Feb. 8, 2017.
- Marcus Carr has scored in double figures in four of the past five games and is averaging 14.6 points and 5.8 assists per game in that span. He has scored 10 or more points in each of the past three games and extended those averages to 17.3 points and 8.0 assists per game.
- Parker Stewart has scored in double figures in seven of 11 ACC contests and is averaging 10.4 points per game in league play. He ranks seventh in the ACC in three-point percentage (.394) and tied for eighth in three-point field goals (2.55 3pg.) in conference play.
- Shamiel Stevenson leads the team in field goal percentage (.514) and has scored in double figures nine times. Stevenson also leads the team with 113 rebounds on the year.
- Khameron Davis leads the Panthers and ranks second all-time among Pitt freshmen in three-point percentage (.447, 21-of-47).
- Jared Wilson-Frame leads the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game and three-point field goals (51). He has scored in double figures 17 times and made three or more three-point field goals in a game nine times. Wilson-Frame is averaging 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 made threes per game over the past four contests.
- Marcus Carr leads Pitt in minutes (708), starts (21), free throw percentage (.845), assists (103) and steals (17). He has scored in double figures 13 times and ranks ninth among ACC freshmen in scoring at 11.0 points per game.
- Terrell Brown leads the Panthers with 33 blocked shots and is tied for seventh in the ACC with 2.18 blocks per game in conference play. Steven Adams (2013) was the last Pitt freshman to lead the team in blocks. Brown has recorded two or more blocks in each of the past six games.
- Parker Stewart is 44-of-114 (.386) from beyond the three-point arc and has made two or more threes in 13 of the past 19 contests. Stewart ranks second among ACC freshmen with 47 three-point field goals on the season.
- Pitt's freshman class has accounted for 67.4 percent (461-of-684) of the team's scoring over the past 12 games. The group has 18 of Pitt's 26 double-figure scoring games in that span.
- The Panthers are shooting 47.5 percent (197-of-415) from the field, 37.1 percent (75-of-202) from three-point range and 72.1 percent (119-of-165) from the foul line in their eight wins. In contrast, Pitt has shot just 38.8 percent (323-of-833) from the field, 30.1 percent (115-of-382) from three-point range and 69.3 percent (181-of-261) from the foul line in its losses.
- Pitt is 2-8 all-time against the No. 16 team in the AP Poll. The Panthers last win over the 16th-ranked team in the AP Poll was a 65-59 decision over Louisville March 9, 2007 in the Big East Tournament.
- Pitt has defeated a team ranked in the top 20 of the AP Poll in each of the past 17 seasons. The Panthers topped No. 11 Virginia and No. 17 Florida State last season under Kevin Stallings. Pitt is 0-5 on the year against teams ranked in the top 20.
