Last Time Out (at Duke)
Despite generating more chances after halftime and holding a slight edge in possession, Pitt fell 4-0 to Duke last Friday night at Koskinen Stadium.
The result marked Pitt's first loss to Duke since 2019.
The Panthers played a disciplined first half, limiting the Blue Devils to seven shots and keeping the match scoreless at the break. Senior defender Casper Svendby had Pitt's lone first-half chance, firing wide in the opening minute.
Momentum shifted quickly after the break as Duke broke through in the 49th minute when Alessandro Arlotti finished a build-up inside the box, putting the Panthers behind 1-0. The Blue Devils doubled their advantage at the 60:08 mark on a goal from Aridon Racaj.
The Panthers' best opportunity came just over two minutes later, when freshman midfielder Jakob Löpping forced a save with a strike on goal.
Pitt then continued to push forward, but the Blue Devils sealed the result late with two goals in the final 12 minutes of action.
Freshman midfielder Grayson Carter led the way for Pitt with a team-high two shots. Defensively, junior goalkeeper Jack Moxom tallied five saves over 90 minutes.
