
Burton Sets 400-Meter School Record as Panthers Conclude Regular Season

CLEMSON – Je'Nyia Burton set her second Pitt record as the Panthers closed out the regular indoor season at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational. Burton now holds the indoor 300-meter and 400-meter school records.
FRIDAY RECAP
In the men's 60-meter hurdles prelims, Mikhi Anderson narrowly missed out on qualifying for the semifinals. Anderson finished in 25th with a time of 8.10. Antwan James ended in 29th, tying his personal best of 8.27.
Je'Nyia Burton set her second indoor school record, this time in the 400-meter race. Burton won the event with a time of 52.60. Burton broke Taylor Ellis-Watson's 2012 school record of 52.75. The Orlando, Florida native currently has the top time in the ACC this season.
Malik Ricketts recorded a new personal best in the men's 400-meter, 46.55. This time moves him from his previous position of sixth in the Pitt record books, to third. He finished 18th in the orange division. Devin Nugent, competing in the men's 400-meter purple division finished 12th with a time of 47.49.
Daniel Amaya threw a season best 18.47-meters in the men's weight throw to finish ninth.
Norrah Lemongo finished in eighth in the women's weight throw invitational, which features the top nine throwers at the meet. Lemongo achieved a mark of 18.47-meters.
SATURDAY RECAP
Both Shynae Deas and Mackenzie Sullivan had strong performances in the 800-meter race. Deas recorded a personal best of 2:12.80 and Sullivan, a season best of 2:14.39.
Mikhi Anderson made his high jump debut for Pitt. Anderson cleared 1.96-meters and enters the top ten record book with his result. He is tied for ninth with two other Pitt athletes.
In the women's high jump invitational, both Eva Baldursdottir and Alesia Rengle cleared 1.74-meters. Baldursdottir finished in fifth as she cleared the height on her first attempt. Rengle cleared the mark on her third attempt to finish ninth.
Je'Nyia Burton finished 22nd in the women's 200-meter purple division with a time of 24.08. Teammate Caleia Johnson followed in 27th place of the same event, stopping the clock in 24.17.
On the men's side, Nigel Hussey recorded a personal best in the 200-meter dash. His time of 21.21 keeps him in the seven spot in the program record books. Hussey finished 11th in the purple division.
Sophomore Norrah Lemongo finished fifth in the women's shot put invitational with a 16.39-meter throw.
The men's and women's 4x400 relay teams brought the meet to a close. The quartet of Caleia Johnson, Logan Neely, Faith Dennis and Je'Nyia Burton recorded a 3:39.06 time. The men's team of Malik Ricketts, Nigel Hussey, Thomas McDonough and Devin Nugent produced a 3:10.76 effort.
