THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt (16-14, 7-12 ACC) concludes regular season play Saturday, March 8 at the Petersen Events Center against Boston College (12-18, 4-15 ACC). Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. with Doug Sherman and Randolph Childress calling the action on ACC Network.
- Pitt will honor Ishmael Leggett, Zack Austin, and Vason Stevenson along with senior managers George D'Atri, Steven Eiben, and Jacob Riben as part of Senior Day activities prior to the game.
- Saturday's contest is also a Hoops4ALS game as both programs join the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In 2017, Jeff Capel Jr., the father of head coach Jeff Capel and assistant coach Jason Capel, passed away due to complications related to ALS at the age of 64.
- Ishmael Leggett is six points shy of reaching the 1,800-point mark for his career. He scored 862 points (14.1 ppg.) in two seasons at Pitt, while also contributing 345 rebounds (5.7 rpg.) and 92 steals (1.5 spg).
- Zack Austin leads the Panthers in blocks (50) and three-pointers (53) and is just the fifth player in ACC history (sixth time) with at least 50 blocks and 50 three-point field goals in a season. Austin has totaled 498 points, 275 rebounds, 81 three-pointers, and 94 blocks in two season at Pitt.
- Jaland Lowe (488) and Ishmael Leggett (468) are looking to become the first Pitt guard tandem to each score 500 or more points in a season. They would become just the sixth Pitt duo to accomplish that feat in a season.
