THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt (17-14, 8-12 ACC) opens the T. Rowe Price ACC Tournament Tuesday, March 11 against Notre Dame (14-17, 8-12 ACC). Tipoff from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C. is set for 2:00 p.m. with Wes Durham, Cory Alexander and Jim Boeheim calling the action on ACC Network.
- The Panthers finished ACC regular season play in a five-way tie for ninth. Pitt earned the 13-seed in the ACC Tournament for the second time in program history.
- Pitt dropped a 76-72 road decision to Notre Dame (2/22) during the regular season matchup between the two schools. Ishmael Leggett (21) and Cameron Corhen (20) each collected 20-point games but could not overcome a 56.3 percent (27-of-48) shooting effort from the Fighting Irish.
- Jaland Lowe and Ishmael Leggett combine to average 32.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 3.5 steals per game. The duo has combined for 52 double-figure scoring games, including 18 games with 20 or more points scored.
- Zack Austin leads the Panthers in blocks (51) and three-pointers (54) and is just the fifth player in ACC history (sixth time) with at least 50 blocks and 50 three-point field goals in a season. Austin has totaled 503 points, 282 rebounds, 82 three-pointers, and 95 blocks in two seasons at Pitt.
- Jaland Lowe (503) and Ishmael Leggett (482) are looking to become the first Pitt guard tandem to each score 500 or more points in a season. They would become just the sixth Pitt duo to accomplish that feat in a season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Jaland Lowe has topped the 20-point mark 10 times and is tied for ninth in the ACC in scoring at 16.8 points per game. Six of his 20+ point scoring games came in ACC regular season play.
- Ishmael Leggett has scored 15 or more points 21 times this season. He leads the team in rebounds (5.9 rpg.), while also ranking second in scoring (16.1 ppg.), assists (77), steals (51), three-point field goals (48), and free throws (94).
- Zack Austin leads the Panthers in three-point field goals (54) and blocked shots (51). He is the only player in the NCAA in the 50-50 club (three-pointers and blocks) this season. Mouhamdou Gueye (2021-22) is the only other Panther to lead the team in blocks and three-pointers in a season.
- Pitt is one of two teams in the NCAA (along with UMBC) with two players 6-3 or under averaging 16.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game or better. Jaland Lowe (16.8 ppg., 4.2 rpg.) and Ishmael Leggett (16.1 ppg., 5.9 rpg.) are looking to become the first pair of Pitt guards to each average at least 16.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in the same season.
- Cameron Corhen has scored in double figures 20 times and is averaging 11.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He leads the Panthers in dunks (46) and field goal percentage (.633), while ranking second in offensive rebounds (54) and blocks (23).
- Jaland Lowe (16.8 ppg., 4.2 rpg., 5.5 apg.) is one of eight players in the NCAA averaging at least 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. He has a team-high five double-doubles on the season and has led the Panthers in scoring 14 times.
- Ishmael Leggett is one of 10 players in the NCAA averaging at least 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He is looking to join Ricardo Greer (1999-2000) as the only Panthers to achieve those averages in a season.
- Cameron Corhen is averaging 13.4 points per game, while going 28-of-38 (.739) from the field over the past five games.
- Zack Austin leads the ACC in blocks (51) and is attempting to join Charles Smith (Big East - 1987) as the only Panthers to lead the conference in blocks in a season.
- Guillermo Diaz Graham leads the Panthers with 59 offensive rebounds. He averaged 2.1 offensive rebounds per game, while shooting 36.6 percent (26-of-71) from three-point range in ACC play.
- Ishmael Leggett is averaging a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game and is attempting to become the first Pitt guard to lead the team in rebounds in back-to-back seasons. He leads all high-major players 6-3 and under in rebounding.
- Jaland Lowe is just the third Pitt player, joined by Brandin Knight (2001-02) and Vonteego Cummings (1997-98), to record 500+ points and 150+ assists in a season. He enters the ACC Tournament with 503 points and 165 assists.
- Cameron Corhen has set career highs in points (341), rebounds (163), offensive rebounds (54), assists (28), and blocks (23) in his first season with the Panthers. He has 869 points, 386 rebounds, and 43 blocks over 91 career games (64 starts).
- The Panthers are 12-0 on the season and 50-2 under Jeff Capel all-time when scoring 80 or more points in a game.
- Pitt has a school-record seven wins when trailing at halftime this season. The Panthers have also won four games in which they have trailed by double-figures at some point in the contest.
- Pitt is 14-2 on the season when posting a better field goal percentage then its opponent. The Panthers only shot better from the field then the opposition seven times in ACC play.
PANTHER SPOTLIGHTS
- Brandin Cummings has scored in double figures in all three of his starts this season and is averaging 14.0 points and 4.0 assists per game in those contests. He is coming off a 16-point, 5-assist start on Saturday against Boston College.
- Ishmael Leggett is expected to play in his 150th career game Tuesday, He has totaled 1,808 points (14.1 ppg.), 696 rebounds, 284 assists, and 182 steals in his career.
