PITTSBURGH - The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced the members of its 2025-26 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Executive Board, a dynamic group of leaders representing the voice and vision of more than 12,200 ACC student-athletes. Two Panther student-athletes, Gianna Cagliola of women's cross country and track and field and Gracie Kahoun of women's lacrosse were selected to represent Pitt.
"At both the institutional and conference levels, ACC SAAC is a trusted partner in shaping policy and priorities," said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. "Their voices ensure our decisions reflect the needs, ambitions and values of the more than 12,200 student-athletes who define the ACC."
Each of the ACC's 18 member institutions nominates SAAC representatives, with Executive Board members elected through a conference-wide vote of their peers.
ACC SAAC serves as the essential bridge between student-athletes and conference leadership, ensuring their voices influence key legislative decisions, community engagement initiatives, and the overall student-athlete experience. Members not only address policy changes but also champion community service, uphold sportsmanship, and promote a positive image of collegiate athletics.
Cagliola is entering her fourth season as a member of the cross country and track and field teams at Pitt. The Limerick, Pa. native holds personal bests of 22:03.3 in the 6k, 4:59.62 in the indoor mile and 10:58.93 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Cagliola's time in the steeplechase is the tenth best all-time at Pitt. Academically, Cagliola has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team during the 2022, 2023, and 2024 cross country seasons. Her excellence in the classroom aided in cross country's athletic department leading 3.54 team GPA a season ago.
Kahoun is a rising senior on the Pitt Lacrosse team that has played in each of the team's 34 games over the last two seasons. Last year, she started all 16 contests and recorded 17 caused turnovers and eight ground balls. Off the field, Kahoun was named to the 2025 College Sport Communicators All-District Team, the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll and the All-ACC Academic Team. She also received the Heart of a Panther Award, presented to the student-athlete who best embodies the spirit of service through the Pitt Promise and is involved in the community beyond what is expected, at the 2025 Panthers Choice Awards. Kahoun looks to be an integral part of the Pitt Lacrosse 2026 campaign.
