Pitt Welcomes Virginia Tech to Highmark Stadium Sunday

PITTSBURGH – Pitt lacrosse returns home to Highmark Stadium for ACC game number two, as the Virginia Tech Hokies come to Station Square. The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
LAST TIME OUT
Pitt dropped a heartbreaker in State College Wednesday, falling to the No. 23 Nittany Lions 12-11 in overtime. Gigi Leonzi and Avery Moon contributed four points a piece and Lainey McGonagle tied a single-game record with six caused turnovers to lead the Panther efforts. The non-conference game marked the first for Pitt as a ranked program (No. 25).
SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH
The Hokies have started 2026 3-1, including an opening ACC win over Louisville. Sophia Trahan is the points leader for Virginia Tech with 13 and goalie Malie Follet has started all four contests and made 28 saves.
MATCHUP HISTORY
Virginia Tech leads the series 5-0, including one game in the ACC Tournament. Last season, Pitt dropped a close 11-10 decision in Blacksburg. Kaitlyn Giandonato scored five goals to give the Panthers the chance for the conference victory.
