Pitt Falls to Cal in Series Finale

PITTSBURGH – Pitt fell to Cal, 9-1, in six innings to close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon.
Cal struck first with a two-out solo home run to deep center field in the opening inning, then extended its lead with a two-run homer in the second to make it 3-0. The Golden Bears were held scoreless over the next two frames before adding two runs in the fifth on a sacrifice fly and an RBI double.
Cal broke the game open in the sixth, plating four runs to take a 9-0 advantage heading into the bottom half of the inning. The Panthers avoided the shutout when Macy Hamilton delivered a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to bring home Pitt's lone run, but Cal secured the run-rule victory shortly after.
Pitt will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, for the 2026 ACC Softball Championship. The Panthers finish the regular season with an 8-16 mark in conference play and will await their opening-round opponent.
