Women's Soccer Downs Cornell, 2-1

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Pitt women's soccer team secured its second consecutive victory and extended its unbeaten streak to four with a 2-1 victory at Cornell Sunday. Katie Ellermeyer and Sofia Doheny recorded goals for the Panthers in the win.
Pitt gave up an early goal to the Big Red, conceding in the 12th minute of action. A turnover in the midfield led to the opening goal of the game as the Cornel forward got behind the Pitt defense and found her teammate who put away the score.
The Panthers couldn't respond in the opening half, despite a couple of close calls, including a shot in the closing minutes of the half from Adi Bianchin that hit off the post.
Pitt found the equalizer in the opening minutes of the second half, earning a penalty kick opportunity in the 51st minute. Ellermeyer stepped up to take the penalty and calmly convert for the game-tying goal.
Dohney added the game-winning goal in the 67th minute for the Panthers. Sage Stelzer sent a long ball across the goal, finding Lola Abraham who tapped the ball to Doheny who finished the play. The goal is the first of the year for Doheny and the second of her career.
The Panthers led in shots XXX and did not allow a corner kick in the game.
